Avant Prov

Amnesia Wars and Køvvånng present  a wholly uncontainable live art Happening!

Avant Prov brings together accomplished musicians, dancers, and actors to devise a unique, immediate event each night.

The result is a fantastical performance resembling an art installation, a modern music and dance concert, and an improv comedy spectacle.

Come confused, leave befuddled.

Amnesia Wars (performing company) is a collective of theater artists in New York City.  Originally formed in 1997 to produce high quality longform improvisation, the company has since mounted fully produced plays and musicals, variety shows, and appearances at venues and festivals throughout the United States and the world.

Køvvånng (cipher artist) is an individual and collective conceptual artist based worldwide but currently soul-situated at the mast-point of Ales Stenar on the Kåseberga ridge in Scania. The obfuscation of Køvvånng’s award-winning, critically acclaimed (and frequently derided) identity for this Cipher is intentional and necessary.

Rob Reese (Prime Executor) is a New York based theater maker who has directed, written, performed, and taught throughout the U.S. and in a dozen countries over five continents.

(Special consideration given to gigs in South America and Antarctica.)

A proud member of the Indie Theatre Hall of Fame, Rob directed and co-wrote Kamala Sankaram’s Miranda (HERE), which received the Innovative Theater Award for Outstanding Production of a Musical and for which Reese received the Manhattan Community Arts Fund Award; that same year he received the Amsterdam Improvisational Education Award.

Reese is absolutely thrilled to return to the stage with the wonderful members of Amnesia Wars, and is resigned to the actuality of another collaboration with Køvvånng.

Petrea Whittier (Movement/Dance Captain)  is a New York City based actor with over 10 years of professional experience.  She made her return to acting post-pandemic this last summer at the Sterling Renaissance Festival, where she could be found as the village potion woman, prescribing herbal remedies to unsuspecting patrons.  Prior to that, she was a member of the 2020 MFA cohort at the George Washington University, where she received her Master's in classical acting.  Petrea has extensive training in mask, having spent three months in Italy studying commedia in 2012.  She could also be found participating in contact improv throughout NYC before 2020, and looks forward to coming back to improvised dance in 2022.  Petrea is beyond excited to be returning to the strange world of devised theatre with Amnesia Wars as movement captain.

Rodney Umble (Sound/Music Captain) has been involved with Køvvånng performance pieces since 2016 and Amnesia Wars' preceding hybrid workshops since 2014. In addition to multiple Amnesia Wars improv productions, he's acted in AW's plays and musicals Keanu Reeves Saves the Universe, Yahweh's Follies, Sundays @ The Parkside, and 101 Reasons to Thank Your God for Donald J. Trump, Vladimir J. Putin, and My Dad, Who’s a Dick. "Rumble" is one half of the hip-hop comedy duo Squirm and Germ, who has performed at The Apollo and the San Francisco, Austin and Charleston Comedy Festivals.  He has DJ'd house parties, corporate holiday parties and online. He's studied improv at Second City Training Center NY, The Magnet Theater and acting at T. Schreiber Studios.
